Role Purpose
We are seeking an experienced and dependable 48-Vandalism Team Leader with strong RF and Microwave expertise to lead and coordinate vandalism response teams. The role is responsible for overseeing network protection, fault response, restoration activities, and ensuring team performance, safety, and compliance with operational standards.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate team response to vandalism incidents at network sites.
- Allocate tasks, supervise field teams, and ensure efficient execution of work.
- Perform RF and microwave link inspections and advanced fault finding.
- Oversee restoration of damaged network equipment and verify quality of repairs.
- Conduct site audits, identify risks, and implement corrective actions.
- Act as the primary point of contact between field teams, technicians, and network operations.
- Ensure full compliance with safety, HSE, and operational standards.
- Review, approve, and submit accurate reports and documentation on time.
- Provide on-site leadership, coaching, and technical guidance to team members.
Job Requirements
- Matric plus technical tertiary Qualifications (i.e. EE N4-N6, Electrical trade test, EE S3-S4)
- Trade test plus Wireman’s license (Valid Electrician Certificate of Competence)
- Valid South African driving license – Code 10/C1 or higher.
- Clear criminal record.
- Experience / substantial exposure to similar role/ function is required.
HSE Competency Requirements
- Valid occupational medical certificate for driving.
- First Aid training.
- Fire Fighting.
- Risk Assessment certificate.
- Defensive Driving certification.
- 4x4 certification.
Required Experience
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar role.
- Proficient in the use of RF/microwave test equipment (e.g., spectrum analyzers, power meters, site masters)
- Strong understanding of antenna systems, feeders, grounding, and lightning protection.
- Experience in basic welding and drilling for site repairs, brackets and equipment mounting.
- Ability to work at heights, in outdoor environments , on rooftops, or remote telecom sites.
- Physically fit and able to lift equipment and work on-site.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
