Role Purpose
Generator Deployment Technician is responsible to deploy, refuel commercial Mobile Generators and refuel Static generators as well as do basic troubleshooting and routine maintenance on these units to ensure maximum network availability within the allocated FM office (defined geographical area) and/or sub-cluster within an FM office.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Must have Confident and Proficient towing skills with good understanding of power connections on site.
- Able to do basic generator operations, e.g. start & stop.
- Able do basic troubleshooting under guidance from gen mechanic.
- Able to Perform Refueling duties as part of the operations.
- Grade 12 (Matric) minimum required.
- Valid South African driving license – Code 14/EC or higher.
- Must be minimum 25 years old to qualify for DGR (Dangerous Goods by Road) license accreditation.
- Electrical and/or Mechanical Competency Qualifications would be very beneficial.

- Project Specific Clear and Valid Fingerprint Based Criminal Record results.
- Project Specific Clear and Valid Polygraph Test results.
HSE Competency Requirements
- Valid First Aid training.
- Valid Fire Fighting.
- Valid Risk Assessment (Hira).
- Dangerous Goods by Road Training and License Accreditation (Must be minimum 25 years old to qualify for DGR (Dangerous Goods by Road) license accreditation).
Required Experience
- Minimum 6 Months of Refueling or Gen Towing experience in Telecom Maintenance Domain Operations.
- Experienced in use of specialized testing equipment (Power meter, Multi meter, RM Power meter etc.).
- Competent and/or Confident with the operation of 4x4 Vehicles and offroad terrain.
- Competent and/or Confident with the towing of Mobile Generator and Bouser Trailers.
- Confidently computer literate and able to communicate proficiently in English in written form.
- Knowledge and experience with relevant Telecoms Sector mobile smart phone-based software and communication systems.
