Role Purpose

The Field Maintenance Engineer (FME) is responsible for corrective maintenance of mobile network installations to ensure maximum network availability within an allocated geographic area.

Critical Scope Requirements

  • Attend to and clear site alarms timeously.
  • Perform corrective maintenance on active and passive telecom equipment.
  • Troubleshoot power, RF, transmission, and basic network-related faults.
  • Conduct site inspections and report findings.
  • Update job cards and maintenance systems accurately.

Site Access Security Protocols Requirements

  • Project Specific Clear and Valid Fingerprint Based Criminal Record results.
  • Project Specific Clear and Valid Polygraph Test results.

HSE Competency Requirements

  • Valid occupational medical for driving and working at heights.
  • Valid Fall Arrest with Basic Rescue qualification / certification.
  • Valid First Aid training certification.
  • Valid Fire Fighting certification.
  • Valid Risk Assessment (Hira) certification.
  • Valid Defensive Certification.
  • Valid 4x4 certification.
  • Legal Liability certification.

Required Experience

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in telecoms field maintenance or alarm clearance.
  • Knowledge of active and passive telecom equipment (power, batteries, rectifiers, AC/DC)
  • Basic understanding of RAN / RF / Transmission faults.
  • Valid South African Driver’s License.
  • Clear criminal record.
  • Computer literate and able to communicate in English.
